How long have you been in business?
Cog Wild was established in 1999 by Woody Starr. The business changed hands in 2005 to Melanie Fisher and Lev Stryker with Woody still guiding but having time for his three kids.
What is your primary product or service?
We actually offer a lot: guided one day and multi-day mountain bike tours including Bachelor to Bend one day and Bike & Brew Weekend tour, shuttle rides locally around Bend and to the McKenzie River Trail and beyond, corporate and group tours and kids and women's bike clinics.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
That is a long answer... basically we have both been biking for years and either worked at other bike tour companies or have been a part of Cog Wild and have been taking people on rides for years and have always had the dream of owning Cog Wild.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Cog Wild is the only company in the nation to have the permit to offer tours on almost every bike trail in the Deschutes National Forest. There are a few other companies that have a small area they can offer tours, but Cog Wild has the entire area from Cultus Lake to Bend. We are the only company offering shuttles, clinics and do a lot of trail work as well.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are based in Bend. We do plan to offer more and more tours across Oregon in beautiful and exciting places to go ride.

We actually come to our guests. We pick people up at their hotel or meet at a local bike shop in case any guests have any last minute purchases they need.
What type of payments do you accept?
Credit cards, check or cash.
Which areas do you service?
The entire Central Oregon - we offer day tours all over the place from Sunriver, Sisters, Ochocos, Smith Rock and beyond.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Melanie Fisher and Lev Stryker own the company and also run the daily operations. In most cases you will get Melanie on the phone when you call to make a reservation and Lev will guide you on the trail. We do also have many great local guides with all of our info available on our website.
What are your hours of operation?
We are open the entire biking season and try to be near the phone as much as possible. At times, we are not able to, but always get back to people very quickly who leave messages.
